LAUTECH Iseyin campus Shuts down following death of 200-Level Student

‎Academic activities have been suspended at the Iseyin Campus of Ladoke Akintola University of Technology (LAUTECH), Ogbomoso, after the tragic death of a 200-level student,Afolayan Oluwadarasimi Roseline from the Department of Agricultural Economics.

‎The university’s management, in a statement signed by Mrs. Olayinka O. Balogun on behalf of the Vice-Chancellor, described the incident as deeply painful. The student, identified as a recently resumed 200-level undergraduate, reportedly lost her life after being hit by a vehicle in a fatal accident near the Iseyin campus.

‎“In view of this unfortunate development and the emotional distress it has caused within the university community, the Management has approved the suspension of all academic activities at the Iseyin Campus for a period of two weeks with immediate effect,” the statement read.

‎Students of the College of Agricultural Sciences and Renewable Natural Resources have been instructed to proceed on the break, with classes expected to resume on Monday, November 24, 2025.

‎The statement also recalled recent protests by students of LAUTECH, Iseyin Campus, over rising insecurity and recurring cases of robbery and assault within the community — a situation that has heightened concerns about student safety in the area.

‎While urging students to remain calm and law-abiding, the university appealed to them to support one another during this period of grief and to honour the memory of their departed colleague.

‎It added that essential staff members are to continue with their duties as directed by the management.

‎The university further extended its heartfelt condolences to the family of the deceased, his friends, and the entire LAUTECH community, describing the incident as “a heartbreaking loss that has left a deep scar on the institution.”

House to House founder loses Wife

  ‎ ‎Mrs Abimbola Adeyemo , the wife of the founder and General Overseer of House to House Prayer Ministries, Ogbomoso, Rev’d Debo Adeyemo has passed away. ‎ ‎Mrs. Adeyemo reportedly died on Sunday, December 7, after a brief illness. She was aged 63. ‎ ‎A trained nurse, the late Mrs. Adeyemo was widely regarded as a loving and compassionate woman who strongly upheld family values. She was also known for her role as a marriage counsellor and advocate against marital breakdown. ‎ ‎Following her demise, sympathisers have been visiting the family residence at Areago, Ogbomoso, to commiserate with Rev’d Adeyemo and members of the family over the painful loss.
